The two artists Christoph Wachter and Mathias Jud developed a community project named “Qaulnet”. In a situation where people are cut off from the internet, they are able to communicate and to form a spontaneous network via free WIFI.
Especially in countries like Egypt, Syria, Iran or China we are confronted with a forbidden freedom of speech and reductions in political and social freedoms. The importance of people living in these countries, to have their individual independence and a personal perspective for a critique of the political system, is very essential. To give an example: The Taksim Protests in Turkey showed us, how important it is to share informations and breaking news via social media networks from and for all the people. Therefore Twitter, Facebook and other new medias replace the newspaper, that mainly is influenced by the government.
